I finally decided to try a 3-day fast. I’ve read about fasting before, but I wanted to experience it myself and see how my body would react. Recently I’ve listened to Diary of a CEO: World No.1 Fasting Expert: The Link Between Cancer & Fasting That They’re Hiding From You! and it has really pushed me to fast. At first, the idea of not eating for three whole days felt crazy. But I told myself this is about discipline, resetting, and giving my body a chance to heal.
So what does fasting really mean? For me, it was no calories just water, black coffee, and plain tea. That’s it. No sneaky snacks. No “just a little bite.” I had to commit fully. No cheating over here.
Here’s what happens when you start. Your body first uses stored glycogen for energy. That’s the easy part. Then, once glycogen runs out, your body starts switching gears toward fat burning. Studies show short-term fasting can actually raise norepinephrine, which boosts metabolism and helps you feel more alert. Honestly, knowing the science gave me confidence to keep going.
Before I even started, I prepared. I drank more water than usual, added electrolytes (salt in the water), and thought about what I would eat after the fast. I didn’t want to stop fasting only to binge on anything I could find.
And here’s a reminder: fasting isn’t for everyone. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, underweight, or taking certain medications, it’s not safe to jump in without medical advice.
This was day zero for me the beginning of the journey.
