Day 1 wasn’t as bad as I expected. Don’t get me wrong I was hungry, but it came in waves. About every 2 to 3 hours, I’d feel it hit me, and then if I stayed busy, it passed. I kept sipping water, black coffee, and tea. That helped a lot.
One thing I noticed was my energy. I thought I’d feel drained right away, but surprisingly, I didn’t. Research shows fasting actually raises norepinephrine, which helps keep your focus and energy steady. It felt like my body was adjusting, not shutting down.
Here’s what helped me get through the day:
- Adding a little salt to my water so I wouldn’t feel lightheaded.
- Taking short walks instead of sitting around thinking about food.
- Keeping myself busy with work.
- Going to bed early so I wouldn’t spend the evening hungry. Sleeping is your best friend! Take long naps and sleep for a full 8 hours.
If you’re starting fasting, expect those hunger waves. They’re not permanent. They come and go, and it’s really a mental game.
Day 1 gave me confidence that I could actually do this.
Great read! Very insightful.
