After three full days of fasting, the moment finally came to eat again and I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t ease in with broth or eggs like I planned. I went straight for unlimited crabs. Yes, you read that right. Piles of fresh crab. And let me tell you, it was the best crab I’ve ever had in my life. Every bite tasted richer, sweeter, and more satisfying because my body hadn’t had food in days.
I didn’t feel guilty at all. I savored every bite and appreciated the experience in a way I usually don’t when food is always available. After fasting, even something simple feels like a feast.
The next day, I kept it just as simple but hearty I had steak. And again, it felt incredible. There was something about breaking the fast with real, whole foods that made me feel grounded.
Now, science will tell you it’s “best” to break a fast slowly with light meals, and I get why. After fasting, your digestive system is more sensitive, and overeating too quickly can cause issues. But in my case, my body handled it well. I think part of it was because the foods I chose crab and steak were mostly protein and fat, which work well with where my body was at metabolically after fasting.
Looking ahead, I’ve decided to take this reset and move into keto and low-carb eating. Since fasting pushed me into ketosis, continuing with a low-carb approach feels like the natural next step. Research shows keto can help with fat burning, energy, and blood sugar control, but for me, it’s also about discipline and building habits I can sustain.
Fasting taught me that I don’t need to give in to every craving. It showed me that I’m stronger than I thought, and that food should be something I enjoy and respect not something I lean on mindlessly.
So yes, I broke my fast with crabs and steak. And it was amazing. But what matters most is what I do after. For me, that means sticking to a low-carb lifestyle, staying in ketosis, and sharing the meals, tips, and lessons with you along the way.
If fasting was the reset, keto is the journey I’m committing to now.

My Takeaway for You:
Breaking a fast is just as important as the fast itself. Choose real food, listen to your body, and focus on what comes next not just the moment you get to eat again.
Now I want to hear from you:
If you were ending a 3-day fast, what would be the first meal you’d choose? Would you go straight for something indulgent like I did, or keep it light and simple?
