Sometimes, you just need a little escape. This week, my husband and I took a much-needed couples retreat to Davao. Whenever we’re in the city, our go-to spot is always The Bourke Hotel. It’s cozy, welcoming, and best of all, dog-friendly so even our fur baby feels at home.
As soon as we arrived, we headed straight to Bondi & Bourke, the in-house restaurant that never disappoints. The food is always top-tier, and this trip was no exception.

I will always say yes to foie gras. Whether it’s on sushi or served French-style, it’s a yes for me. Their Foie Gras Terrine was perfection creamy duck liver paired with apple jam, sourdough, marinated olives, and sweet, sautéed onions. Every bite was luxurious and comforting all at once.

I ordered the slow-braised Australian lamb shank with English peas, root vegetables, rosemary, and fresh lemon. It was fall-off-the-bone tender and full of flavor. I didn’t just finish my plate I practically polished it clean.

My husband kept it classic with fish and chips. Normally, it wouldn’t be worth mentioning, but Bondi & Bourke elevated it by using snapper instead of pangasius. The freshness made all the difference.
This mini getaway reminded us how important it is to pause, reconnect, and enjoy good food in good company.
Overall we would rate the hotel and restaurant a 10/10
